Osteopathy

Osteopathy is an effective manual therapy for all ages, newborns to seniors.

Newborns can benefit from osteopathic treatments for varying conditions including colic, plagiocephalia, restlessness, breastfeeding problems, absorption deficiencies, etc.

Children with ADD, hyperactivity, walking problems, equilibrium problems, allergies, asthma, ear infections, among other conditions, can also stand to benefit.

Adults can benefit from osteopathic treatments for backaches, headaches, joint pain, muscular pain, tendinitis, bursitis, constipation, diarrhea, bloating, irritable bowel syndrome, ear infections, dizziness, sinus infections, insomnia, depression, memory loss, general tiredness, nervousness, anxiety, carpal tunnel syndrome, depression, hemorrhoids, during pregnancy, after a whiplash, after bone fracture, etc.

Appointments are 50 minutes and include a health assessment, determination of the “cause to condition” link and treatment using varying techniques, such as myofascial release, craniosacral, positional release, TMJ release, muscle energy, visceral mobilization and functional release.

What is osteopathy?

Osteopathy is an alternative medicine founded by A.T. Still during the 19th century. It is based on the principle that every structure and every organ has its own movement. Decrease in the quality or quantity of this movement generates stasis or spasms leading to local as well as distant illnesses. The body is considered in its whole during the search for a cause-link to a specific pathology, because all systems are intertwined together. It is also considered that the body can cure itself; the osteopath will then provide the necessary tools for the body to restore mobility of the structures and organs, and prevent or treat certain pathologies.
