High School Football Star Killed in Tragic Miami-Dade Shooting

The shooting death of a high school football star in a Miami-Dade County neighborhood on Tuesday prompted police to launch an investigation.

The 100 block of Sierra Drive was the location of the shooting. The news of the High School Football Star’s death was followed by an outcry of grief from family, friends, and community members.

According to Miami-Dade police, the victim was shot and then rushed to a nearby home for assistance. He immediately fell and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Mekhi Stevenson, a junior quarterback at North Miami High School, was killed. The Miami-Dade Police Department and the head football coach at the school have both confirmed this.

Gerald Cox, the team’s head coach, fought back tears as he reflected on Stevenson, whom he claimed was enrolling in college.

“He was a dynamic leader who guided his squad to the postseason and ultimately to a district title. He got As and Bs and did all his mother requested. The statement was made by Cox. He was your normal South Florida football player aiming to make it big.

After the shooting, police set up a perimeter and reported seeing other teens flee the area.
