Warner Bros. is planning a sequel to Matt Reeves’ The Batman, which will star Robert Pattinson as Batman. Toby Emmerich, president of Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group, unveiled the new picture at CinemaCon on Tuesday, according to Deadline.
Despite the fact that my colleague Charles Pulliam-Moore thought it was “one of the poorer entries, substance-wise, in the big Batman cinematic canon,” it was a smash. According to Deadline, the film grossed $760 million worldwide and was viewed by 4.1 million homes on HBO Max in its first week of release.
Both Reeves and Pattinson will reprise their roles in the forthcoming film, however little further details have been released. But the film isn’t the only thing in Reeves’ Batman universe to look forward to; a spinoff centered on Colin Farrell’s Penguin is in the works for HBO Max.
