Recent tweets from Elon Musk seem to corroborate rumors that he and Shivon Zilis, an executive at his technology business Neuralink, welcomed twins in late 2021.
Recently, the Tesla CEO had a second kid with on-and-off lover and electronic musician Grimes.
According to reports published on Wednesday, Mr. Musk and Ms. Zilis, 36, had twins in November 2021.
On Thursday in response, Mr. Musk tweeted that he was “doing my best to assist the underpopulation situation.”
He continued, reiterating his prior remarks and expressed fears about a demographic catastrophe, claiming “a plummeting birth rate is by far the largest peril society confronts.”
Given that he has already fathered twins and triplets with his ex-wife, Canadian author Justine Wilson, Mr. Musk will be the father of his second set of twins with Ms. Zilis.
In the subsequent two years, he had two children with Grimes: X A-Xii and Exa Dark Siderael.
The corporate tycoon and software titan has previously asserted that the emergence of artificial intelligence and a falling birth rate might lead to a global population of “not enough people.”
In response to Mr. Musk’s tweet, Mr. Musk stated that “far too many people are under the misconception that Earth is overpopulated, even when birth rate trends are so plainly going to population collapse.”
Court records identified Ms. Zilis and Mr. Musk on a petition to alter a child’s name that was submitted to a Texas district court in April 2022, according to a story on Wednesday by the American media outlet Insider.
“We would want the children to have their father’s last name and their mother’s last name as part of their middle name,” was the stated reason for the name change request.
Before taking on her position as a top executive and director at Neuralink, Ms. Zilis allegedly had a number of positions at businesses led by Mr. Musk, including Tesla.
Mr. Musk co-founded the organization for neurotechnology and artificial intelligence in 2015.
The news of Mr. Musk’s twins comes just a few weeks after it was made public that his daughter Vivian had taken steps to distance herself from him. In a petition to change her legal name and gender, Vivian stated that she no longer wanted to “be related to my biological father in any way, shape, or form.”
