The Russian civil aviation regulator has issued a ban on British airlines arriving at Russian airports and traversing its airspace.
It comes after the United Kingdom barred Russia’s official airline, Aeroflot, from landing in the country.
The prohibition was enacted as part of a series of measures imposed in reaction to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
After Russian forces started a military invasion of Ukraine, Ukraine’s airspace was closed on Thursday.
Experts expect more airspace, including over Poland, to be restricted in the coming weeks, as the conflict rising to the boiling point.
Reports have also shown that Ukraine is shooting down Russian hellicopters and planes, leading to significant dangers for civilian flights.
