Join us as we delve deep into one of India’s first, and most affordable, 5G smartphones.

Samsung Galaxy A53 5G – An Explosive Release

The Samsung Galaxy A53 5G saw an incredibly explosive release on the global market in March, with more units sold than any other phone on day one sales. Now that it has been out for almost a week, it continues to be one of the most popular options for people in India Place down pre-orders for the upcoming release.

They understand why this is, we first need to understand that this is the first mid-range Samsung phone to be released in India, with full 5G support, from Samsung. It combines incredible Android 12 support, with a range of features that are hard to pass up.

The overall reception for the phone has been positive, which is to be expected. Samsung rarely releases phones these days to poor reviews. Their build quality, and overall hardware specs, are unmatched in the industry.

Samsung Galaxy A53 5G – India Release Date

No official release date has been stated for the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G in India, however, pre-orders are now open for the phone. You can place a pre-order at just about any mainstream smartphone store, as well as official Samsung stores around India.

Rumors around the phone’s release in India state that it is likely to release within the next month to six weeks. These rumors hold some water, too, as many reputable sources within the smartphone world have made the same predictions.

The delay in an official announcement is likely a result of Covid logistical issues, making Samsung hesitant to set an official release date for their new 5G flagship smartphone.

Samsung Galaxy A53 5G – Price Point, Variant Breakdown

The Samsung Galaxy A53 5G is set to have an expected price point of Rs. 34,499 for the base model, with a range of expansion options and extras that could add another Rs. 2500.

You will only have access to one core chassis variant, however, there are several different color designs to choose from. The chassis itself follows the iconic Galaxy design and doesn’t stray away from what we’ve come to expect from Samsung Galaxy phones.

Samsung Galaxy A53 5G – Expansion Options

The Samsung Galaxy A53 5G is plagued by the usual problems, when it comes to expansion options, that all Samsung phones suffer from. Outside of the usual internal storage upgrades, using a micro-SD card, you won’t be able to make any official changes to the phone.

Whilst many after-market options exist, the design of the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G will make this more difficult to execute, compared to previous models. Samsung has been clamping down on after-market additions to their phones, and getting the phone itself open will prove to be almost impossible.

Samsung Galaxy A53 5G – Market Comparisons

The Samsung Galaxy A53 5G comes with a decently premium price point, and because of that, we must compare it to many other phones sitting around, or below, its price point.
If Samsung expects you to invest the money, then it had best be worth it. Let’s take a look, and see how they handle the competition:

Samsung Galaxy A53 5G VS OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G

The Samsung Galaxy A53 5G manages to pull ahead of the OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G here, with a slightly larger display at 6.50 inches, compared to OnePlus’ 6.40 inches.

Whilst both phones use different processor designs, the clock speed of the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G’s octa-core processor is significantly higher than the OnePlus option.

Surprising absolutely nobody, Samsung pulls ahead of the OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G here in every respect. With more cameras, higher megapixels, and better photo and recording resolution.

The OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G has better RAM compared to the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G, with 8GB, compared to Samsung’s 6GB.

Both models share the same 128GB of internal storage, both with expansion options available.

The Samsung Galaxy A53 5G has a marginally better battery, with 5000mAh, compared to the OnePlus’ 4500mAh.

Operating System

Samsung wins out here, with Android 12 support, whilst OnePlus is running Android 11.

Both phones share the same resolution, at 1080×2400.

Whilst the OnePlus model is roughly 10% cheaper than the Samsung phone, the Samsung option beats out the OnePlus in almost every category. When it comes to a value comparison, Samsung wins out here.

Samsung Galaxy A53 5G VS IQ00 Z6 5G

The IQ00 Z6 5G has a slightly larger display, at 6.58inch, compared to the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G’s 6.60-inch display.

Both phones are using the snapdragon processor design, however, the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G has deployed an octa-core processor, compared to a simple Qualcomm Snapdragon 695. This results in higher clock speeds for the octa-core, at roughly 26%.

The Samsung Galaxy A53 5G is far beyond what the IQ00 Z6 5G offers, with almost double the cameras, double the megapixel resolution, and significantly better video and photo display options.

The Samsung Galaxy A53 5G has 6GB of in-built RAM, compared to the IQ00 Z6 5G’s mere 4GB.

Both phones share the same 128GB of internal storage, with the same expansion options available for each of them.

Both phones come equipped with a 5000mAh battery and provide comparable battery life to each other.

Operating System

Both phones are running Android 12, so are compared in this bracket. However, it should be noted, that the Samsung model will have quicker updates and overall better support behind it.

The resolution of both phones is almost the same. The Samsung Galaxy A53 5G provides 1080×2400 resolution, whilst the iQ00 Z6 5G has a 1080×2408 resolution. This is likely only due to the slightly larger screen size, and won’t translate to any better screen quality overall.

Sitting at 35% cheaper, the iQ00 Z6 5G puts up a fair fight against the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G and is compared in all of the hardware spec areas that truly matter for a phone’s longevity. If you’re looking for the best value, the IQ00 Z6 5G wins out here.

Samsung Galaxy A53 5G – Worth Picking Up?

The Samsung Galaxy A53 5G is nothing new when it comes to mainline Samsung phones. However, that’s not a bad thing. It provides incredible build quality, good performance, and high-grade hardware specs to back up its premium price point.

Whilst many other brands are out there today competing for Samsung’s place at the top of the smartphone food chain, they still have a long way to go before they manage to dethrone the king.

If you’re looking to upgrade a Samsung phone that is two to three years old now, the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G provides you with incredible value. However, if you’re still holding onto a smartphone from last year, we recommend giving this one a pass.
